Paying attention to detail is where U4 has found a number of cost savings that we pass on to our customers. When it comes to lighting our offices, we have found a huge savings. While we can’t control the cost of energy, we can control the amount of energy we use.

U4 is in the process of converting all lighting fixtures to T8 electronic ballast fixtures. The average cost for a 2’ by 2’ light fixture is about $65.00. You may consider this expensive, but take a look at the energy costs over a year. The energy cost of fixtures replaced by U4 was $672 per year. The replacement fixtures use only $260 of energy per year. The energy savings will pay for the light fixtures within the first year. Electronic ballasts will save about 50% of our energy cost per year. Also, electric ballast fixtures put off 95% less heat, saving cooling costs. Where we have to use smaller lights, we put in mini spiral florescent bulbs, saving 60% each year, which is $11.00 savings per light. U4 even changed our emergency exit light which now runs off of LED bulbs, saving 90% in energy.
